Today trends are moving to set definitions of new standards and requirements for monitoring pressure in tires: enforced regulations such as US and EU,new proposal (Korean and chinese) have raised concerns on the reliability of actual technologies in use.Today there's a large number of available TPMS architectures: features and expected life spans create issues in the field such as the interface protocols, mounting and installing tires. The strong demand in shifting responsibilities of TPMS from OEM manufacturers to tire makers slightly change future market assets: today the challenge is the integration of sensors in tires and the key factors of success are connected to the degrees of system level integration, characterization, energy consumption and flexibility. The battery-less feature is today a requirements which must be implemented and achieved in order to meet demand: the energy today is the primary target which goes along with the reduction in terms of mechanical dimensions and costs.
Know-how
STE is a leading Italian enterprise, residing in the North of Italy, dedicated to production of professional ISM wireless data telemetry applications. Provided of an excellent RF design in-house center, STE has recently placed an innovative set of IP family with the intent of promoting and advanced energy efficient and cost effective standard applied to wireless sensors. The Micro.SP Technology, formerly SPX technology,implements innovative approaches to ASSP concepts,energy efficiency, cost effectiveness and hardware integration. One of the key factors is the extreme reduction if the duty cycle and the use of "Components of the shelves" (COTS concept) to garantee low economical profile and investments. Micro.SP is the future innovation leading to "battery-less" ubiquitous wireless sensors devices such as TPMS, sensors in white-goods and other promising mass applications.
OEM
The new PM17SPX TPMS classes of tyre stems offer automotive temperature range reliability, vibration and acceleration resistance up to 2000 g. Has been tested over 320Kmh. It is basically constructed internally to an ISO-TS qualified universal "Snap-in" and "Clamp-in" stem and basically designed to meet automotive standards: the PM17® is engineered to replace the traditional mechanical valves and is designed to leverage both Tier' and distribution' requirements; functionalities of "Self-learning" methodology is implemented using a new patented architecture which enables an automatic individual efficient wheel autolocation feature to meet OEM requirements.
